Meg Medina

Meg Medina is the recipient of the 2019 Newbery Medal for her book, Merci Suárez Changes Gears. She is also the author of the YA novels Burn Baby Burn; Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick Your Ass, winner of the Pura Belpré Author Award; and The Girl Who Could Silence the Wind. She also wrote the picture books Mango, Abuela, and Me, a Pura Belpré Illustrator Award Honor Book, and Tía Isa Wants a Car, recipient of an Ezra Jack Keats New Writer Award. She lives in Richmond, Virginia.

Viki Ash

Viki Ash joined the San Antonio Public Library staff in September 2005 as Coordinator of Children’s Services.  An enthusiastic advocate for children and their literature, she earned her PhD from the University of Texas in 1996 after completing a qualitative research study on library service to children in child care settings. Throughout her library career, Viki has been an active member of the Association for Library Service to Children.  She has served on the Newbery, Caldecott, Sibert and Wilder Award committees.
