About the Authors

Reniqua Allen

Reniqua Allen is an Eisner Fellow at the Nation Institute and a former fellow at New America and Demos. She has written for the New York TimesWashington PostGuardianTeen Vogue, and more, and was a producer for WNYC, PBS, and MSNBC. Allen is completing her Ph.D. in American Studies at Rutgers University and lives in the Bronx. Her latest book is titled It Was All a Dream: A New Generation Confronts the Broken Promise to Black America.

Michael Taylor

Michael Taylor writes the syndicated weekly finance column “The Smart Money” for Hearst Corporation’s San Antonio Express News and Houston Chronicle. Through teaching, writing, and consulting, his mission is to make finance and money topics accessible to an educated, but non-expert, audience. After graduating from Harvard College, Michael sold bonds at Goldman, Sachs & Co. He founded an investment firm specializing in distressed debt. His book is titled The Financial Rules for New College Graduates. He lives in San Antonio, TX with his wife and two daughters.
