About the Author

Carolyn Dee Flores

A graduate of Trinity University, Carolyn Dee Flores is the illustrator of The Amazing Watercolor Fish / El asombroso pez acuarela, A Surprise for Teresita / Una sorpresa para Teresita, Dale, dale, dale: Una fiesta de números / Hit It, Hit It, Hit It: A Fiesta of Numbers, which was named to the 2015-2016 Tejas Star Reading List; Canta, Rana, canta / Sing, Froggie, Sing, which was named to the 2014-2015 Tejas Star Reading List, and Daughters of Two Nations, which won a 2014 Skipping Stones Honor Award for excellence in multicultural literature. A member of the society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Carolyn lives in San Antonio, Texas.

Carmen Tafolla

State Poet Laureate of Texas 2015, Carmen Tafolla is an award-winning poet, speaker, and children’s book author. Current President of the Texas Institute of Letters, she is a recipient of numerous awards including the Americas Award, the Charlotte Zolotow for outstanding picture book writing, two Tomas Rivera Book Awards,  5 International Latino Book Awards and others.  Her latest book of poetry is Carmen Tafolla: New and Selected Works (TCU Press Poet Laureate Series, 2018) and she is the translator for The Amazing Watercolor Fish / El asombroso pez acuarela.
