The Book Festival’s singular fundraising event is the Book Appétit luncheon—a literary feast held the day before the Festival. Featuring a prominent author(s), the Book Appétit luncheon offers guests a unique opportunity: a special presentation by the distinguished author. The 2018 Book Appétit featured Paula Poundstone, popular comedian and author of The Totally Unscientific Study of the Search for Human Happiness, at the Witte Museum. Past featured authors have included Pulitzer Prize winner Lawrence Wright, renowned poet Naomi Shihab Nye, bestselling author Ann Patchett, and acclaimed journalist Alfredo Corchado.
